How it works
MetDaan YouTube Publisher uses YouTube API Services. Here is what happens when a channel is connected and what each permission is used for.
1. Sign in with Google
A MetDaan team member who owns or manages a company YouTube channel clicks “Connect channel” and is sent to Google’s sign-in page. The app never sees or stores the Google password.
2. Review the consent screen
Google shows exactly which permissions the app is asking for (listed below). The user can approve or cancel. Nothing is connected until they approve.
3. Channel is connected
Google returns an access token to the app. The token is stored encrypted on MetDaan’s server and is used only to call the YouTube Data API on behalf of that channel.
4. Publish and manage
From the dashboard the team uploads videos, sets titles, descriptions, thumbnails and publish times, edits existing videos, reads basic analytics and moderates comments.
5. Disconnect at any time
The user can disconnect the channel inside the app (which deletes the stored token) or revoke access from their Google Account permissions page. Either action stops all API access immediately.
Permissions requested
| Google scope | Why the app needs it |
|---|---|
| youtube.upload | Upload new videos and set their details on the connected channel. |
| youtube | Edit titles, descriptions, thumbnails, playlists and comments of videos that belong to the connected channel. |
| youtube.readonly | List the channel’s videos and playlists so the user can pick what to edit. |
| yt-analytics.readonly | Show views, watch time and engagement for the connected channel in the dashboard. |
The app only acts on channels that the signed-in user has explicitly connected. It never accesses other users’ channels, contacts, email or files.
